Hattie Nelligan is from Singapore and is a 2nd Year at the University of St Andrews, where she studies International Relations. Hattie writes Opinion pieces for UnEarth Magazine and is especially interested in environmental justice, racism and sustainable fashion.

MacKenZie is a fourth year at the University of St Andrews studying Art History and Middle East Studies. She covers science and technology for UnEarth, and loves learning about biodiversity, ecology and how climate change affects daily life. She is originally from Florida.

Simone van Nieuwkoop is a 2nd Year student from Washington DC studying biology at the University of St Andrews. She covers Science and Technology for UnEarth Magazine, and holds a particular interest in topics ranging from climate change and food science to biodiversity and conservation technology

Adam is a 4th year English and Art History student at the University of St Andrews, and an opinion writer for UnEarth Magazine. His interests include political organising, environmental policy, and climate justice

Elisabeth Makio is a 4th year student at the University of St Andrews, where she studies Sustainable Development and Geography. Elisabeth is an opinion columnist for UnEarth Magazine and her main interests lie in structural change, systems thinking as well as sustainable economics & finance. In her free time, Elisabeth can often be found phoning home to Finland or swimming in the North Sea


AJ Ridley is a 2nd-year student at the University of St Andrews, reading Biology and Chemistry. AJ covers Science and Tech for UnEarth Magazine, and enjoys exploring innovative solutions to environmental problems. 

Michelle Marsh is a 3rd Year at the University of St Andrews, studying Philosophy and Anthropology. She is an Opinion writer for UnEarth magazine and is primarily interested in the cultural aspects of environmentalism, as well as radical ideas that encourage widespread, institutional change.

Tina Smaile is a 2nd Year at the University of St. Andrews studying Astrophysics. She is a writer and artist for the UnEarth magazine and focuses on maintaining a sustainable lifestyle. Tina is from Highland Perthshire in Scotland.

Teia Swan is a 3rd year studying International Relations at the University of St Andrews. She contributes as an Opinion writer for UnEarth Magazine and is interested in the intersections between sustainability and issues of racial and economic justice.

Josh Traynor is in his first year at the University of St Andrews reading Geography and International Relations. Josh reports on Politics for UnEarth Magazine and is particularly passionate about policy-making in the UK and US, issues surrounding urban areas and geographical inequality, and climate justice. Josh was born and raised in Glasgow.

Eleanor Clyburn is a 3rd Year in the joint program between St Andrews and William & Mary, studying International Relations. Eleanor is the sustainable lifestyle representative for the Environmental Subcommittee and enjoys writing about activism and growing flowers.

Oliver Walter is a second year undergraduate from San Francisco who is studying international relations and sustainable development. He is a political contributor and artist at UnEarth. When he’s not deep thinking, he loves cycling, spending time outdoors, and photography.

Amy Manvell is a first year Spanish and Sustainable Development student at the University of St Andrews. She is a political contributor for UnEarth who is particularly interested in climate justice, environmental policy, waste production and management, and sustainability in a digital age. Amy grew up near Brighton.

Maya Zealey is a 2nd year at the University of St Andrews studying Economics and International Relations. Maya covers Opinion for UnEarth magazine and is particularly interested in social justice, sustainable economic development and environmental economics.

Ella Whitaker is a 4th Year at the University of St Andrews, where she studied Economics and International Relations. Ella covers opinion for UnEarth Magazine and is particularly interested in corporate sustainability, global governance and carbon accounting. Ella is originally from Edinburgh

Ash is a fourth-year biology student. Her favourite topics are those that harmonise with her desire to live a more considerate and sustainable lifestyle, whilst taking good care of her psyche. She is a practicing Buddhist and has found eastern philosophies highly conducive to her journey in going green.

Cara is a 4th Year at the University of St Andrews, where she studies Chemistry. She covers Local Topics for UnEarth Magazine and has worked with many local environmental groups including SVS Environmental, Environment Subcommittee, Transition, Fife Coast and Countryside Trust and more. Cara is local to St Andrews.

Nathalie Nourry is a 4th Year studying Economics at the University of St Andrews, from London. Nathalie covers Opinion for UnEarth Magazine and is particularly interested in environmental economics and sustainable development, climate justice, and corporations’ imperative cooperation in order for us to attain a sustainable climate future.

Editors

Flo is a 3rd Year from Birmingham at the University of St Andrews, where she studies Classics. Flo is the Lifestyle Editor for Unearth Magazine and is especially interested in sustainability and how racial inequality and politics intersects with climate change.

Sylvie Parkus is a 3rd Year International Student at the University of St Andrews, where she studies Biology with a focus on Evolution. She serves as the editor for the Science & Tech section of the UnEarth magazine, and her interests involve anthropocentric threats to biodiversity, environmental ethics, and the short-term and long-term consequences of climate change on the environment

Deanna Coleman is a 4th Year at the University of St Andrews, reading International Relations. As Political Editor, Deanna’s passion lies in environmental policy, with specific interests in policy innovation and effective diplomacy. Deanna comes from Chester but has lived in other areas of the world like Austria and Russia


Nicole Bortfeld is a 4th Year Environmental Science and Geology Student at the University of St Andrews. As Local Editor, she edits for writers who cover stories on local environmental initiatives in St Andrews. She is a proud second generation American and currently lives in Brunswick, Germany.

Octavia Chappell is a 3rd Year at the University of St Andrews, where she studies International Relations and Art History. Octavia is an Opinion Editor for UnEarth and is particularly interested in intersectional environmentalism, ecofeminism, and sustainable living.

Alice Vine is a 2nd Year from Oxford, studying Geography and International Relations. She is an Opinion Co-Editor and Contributing Artist for UnEarth Magazine.

Artists

Hiya, I’m Nadja, I’m in 3rd year doing an integrated masters in physics and I’m an artist for UnEarth. I’m super passionate about climate justice and my art style fluctuates like crazy but I’ve always been inspired by Salvador Dalí’s surrealism.

Alexandra Rive is a 4th Year at the University of St Andrews, where she studies Social Anthropology. Alex produces artwork for UnEarth magazine and enjoys working in acrylics, doing paper cutting or using a graphics tablet. When not in St Andrews, Alex lives in Jersey in the Channel Islands and works in an art gallery.

Darcey Joyce is a 4th year at the University of St Andrews studying Social Anthropology, originally from Brighton. Darcey is an artist for Unearth Magazine mainly working with oil paints.

Holly Brown is from Nairn, in the Scottish Highlands. She is in her 3rd Year at the University of St Andrews and studies Philosophy. Her favourite medium to work with is watercolour paint and she is particularly inspired by Art Nouveau style and Post-Impressionist art. 

Tatiana Dickins is a 3rd year biology student at the University of St Andrews. She is an artist for UnEarth magazine and is excited about the prospect of creating more politically stimulated and conscious artwork.

Eilidh Gilmour is a 2nd year at the University of St. Andrews studying Art History and Social Anthropology. Eilidh is an artist for UnEarth magazine who enjoys working with watercolour and gouache paint. She is excited to experiment with new mediums when exploring pieces surrounding environmental issues.

Leadership

Léa Weimann is the Student Association Environment Officer and a 4th year student studying International Relations and Sustainable Development. She lives by the motto “think global and act local” to call for climate action and put pressure on governments and leaders to realise systemic global change while at the same time looking to implement local solutions, success stories and living sustainably. Léa is a passionate environmental activist, is particularly interested in the topics of environmental governance, economics, law, health, and climate justice. 

Claire Pei is a California native and a fourth year studying International Relations and Arabic. She is a co-founder of the original UnEarth in September 2019 and continues to contribute as Design and Marketing Officer of the Environment Subcommittee, creating graphics and managing social media.

Aung Hein Htet is from Myanmar and is the head of publicity. Aung is currently in his first year studying English and Psychology. He is interested in water policy and management as well as climate change.

Noah is a 4th year at the University of St Andrews, where he studies International Relations and Sustainable Development. As the Editor-in-Chief at UnEarth, he is responsible for executing the vision of the magazine and curating articles. Noah is especially interested in progressive politics, sustainable economics, and environmental justice. He is a German-American dual national who hails from New Hampshire.
